Viva Pit Senyor!

Today marks the feast of Senyo Sto. Nino.

It is a yearly tradition in Cebu City Philippines honoring the patron saint. One of the many reasons why this is a much celebrated occasion since people from all walks of life gather to celebrate Sto. Nino. The celebration has no fixed date but it is always celebrated on the second Sunday of January.

Sinulog is of pagan origin which is an honorary dance in honor of their wooden statues/idols.  When Magellan came and introduced Christianity, he then gave the Sto. Nino image to Queen Juana. Thus the natives where already dancing for the Sto. Nino image which is a sign of reverence to the Sto. Nino.

Then the rest of the story goes to history.

It's been a while since I last experience the Mardi Gras of Sinulog. This is the second year that I am missing the thrills and excitement to be part of the yearly festivity.

This is me and my friends Janice and Miate last 2010. Oh Em Gee.. I'm still that small. hahahahaa
We were in ayala waiting for the fireworks. So many people in this crowd. So many people were anticipating to see the fireworks in Ayala Center Cebu. I miss those days wherein you are forced ( like no choice at all) to walk all the way in Fuente to Colon since there are no jeepneys. It was fun but tiring but hey! it was soooo worth it.

One thing that spoils everything is when it rains. But still, it goes on. No stopping at all.
